The Future Investment Initiative was initiated in 2017 by MBS, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and president of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. The three-day open forum each year conducts discussions on important topics such as energy, business, financial capital, health industry, privatization development, and future technology, attended by high-level speakers, VIPs, including heads of state.

On October 28, 2019, Dragonstone Consulting, the organizer of the Asia-Pacific Region of the FII Summit, led a Chinese delegation to Saudi Arabia to conduct in-depth exchanges with relevant departments and institutions of the Saudi government, with the aim of promoting efficient matchmaking of key projects.
